We are here to get kids from grades 6 – 12 out riding and enjoying our amazing trails!
Whether you are a beginner, new to mountain biking, or a seasoned shredder looking to race, we have the perfect spot for you in CMCT!
You don’t need a fancy bike, but you do need a helmet.
Our season kicks off each year in early April, right after spring break finishes. We get the kids off the couch and out enjoying the beautiful Colorado Springs trails for about 6 weeks. After a break over the summer, we start up again at the beginning of August for the fall race season and ride until the Colorado High School State Championships at the end of October.
Our goal is to pass on our love for riding and get kids active, to teach kids to be part of a team and to foster a lifelong activity that will improve everyone’s health and happiness!
CMCT is based in southwest Colorado Springs and is the home team for Cheyenne Mountain School District 12 and Cheyenne Mountain High School. If your high school does not have a mountain bike team you are also eligible to join us!
Bear Creek Park is our meeting place – where we start and end all of our practices. We ride on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our spring and fall seasons from 4:40-6:30pm. We ride from the park to Stratton Open Space, Cheyenne Canon, and Red Rocks Park for our practices. We are so lucky to have three amazing trail systems within riding distance!
CMCT prioritizes keeping kids safe, which is why we focus on coach training, certifications, and staying connected during each practice with over 50 – 75 active kids.
All our coaches are required to pass a background check and complete training programs through the Colorado High School Cycling League. We also have at least one coach per rider group that is trained in first aid and CPR.
Each riding group has at least two coaches at all times, and they are equipped with
radios and first aid kits.
We are a 100% volunteer-run team and a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our board of directors, coaches, and parents make this whole thing work. From planning, coaching practices, and providing skills development for our beginners to full race support for our experienced riders, CMCT has the resources to provide a winning experience for all kids.
In addition to our dedicated coaches, we welcome and encourage parent involvement in everything we do. We truly want CMCT to be a family affair!
